What is the experience like for a storytelling portrait session?
Our sessions blend gentle posing with natural moments—just enough guidance to help you feel at ease while we capture the quiet connections and simple gestures that tell your story. Whether we’re at home, wandering a favorite place, or soaking up golden light outdoors, we create images that feel timeless and true—photos you’ll return to like familiar, beloved stories.
Who will be photographing our session?
Ashley leads most sessions—you’ll find her behind the camera, capturing the heartfelt, authentic moments our work is known for.
Bryan is our behind-the-scenes guy. He edits all sessions with care and occasionally tags along to capture behind-the-scenes footage. He also handles lighting and tech when a session needs that extra spark.
He joins larger sessions—like elopements, weddings, or extended families—when an extra hand is helpful. If your session includes 35mm film or is a full film session, you’ll likely have both of us there. We each shoot film and love the depth and nostalgia it brings to a story.
How far in advance can I book?
We recommend booking 4–6 weeks ahead, especially for weekends or golden hour sessions.
If you need a last-minute session, don’t hesitate to reach out — we occasionally have openings and would love to work with you if the timing aligns.
Is a retainer required to book?
Yes! To secure your session or event, we require a signed contract and a 50% retainer. The remaining 50% balance is due 72 hours before your session or event. This helps us prepare thoughtfully and ensures everything runs smoothly.
Do you offer payment plans?
Yes! We offer flexible payment plans to make investing in your session easier. Just let us know during booking, and we’ll create a custom plan that works for you.
Can I reschedule or cancel my session?
Yes, we understand that life happens. If you need to reschedule due to illness, family emergency, or weather, we’re happy to accommodate, as long as the request is made at least 48 hours in advance.
Rescheduled sessions are subject to Photographer availability and must be completed by December 31 of the same calendar year unless otherwise agreed in writing. Retainers are non-refundable.
How many photos will we receive?
We don’t guarantee an exact number. It depends on the natural flow of your session or event.
You’ll receive the best of, the images that tell your story beautifully. You will receive color images, and black and white images.
Each gallery is thoughtfully curated based on artistic judgment, technical quality, and storytelling considerations.
The number of included images depends on your package:
• Storytelling, Free Flow, and Wedding collections include full digital downloads.
• Mini sessions include a set number, and you’ll choose your favorites with the option to add more or upgrade to the full gallery.
When will I receive my images?
For digital only sessions, you’ll receive your gallery within 2–3 weeks on average.
If your session includes film, the hand-developing and scanning process can take 3–4 weeks on average.
We’ll send a message as soon as your gallery is ready and available for download.
Please note: Turnaround may be extended during major holidays, personal emergencies, or unforeseen circumstances. We will communicate any significant delays.

Can we bring kids, pets, partners, or helpers?
Absolutely. We welcome your loved ones, pets, and helpers.
Including those close to you adds warmth and meaning to your photos. Just give us a heads-up about who will be joining the session so we can plan accordingly.

What should I wear to my session?
Before your session, we’ll send a quick style questionnaire to get to know your preferences.
Then we’ll share personalized styling tips based on your session type, location, and season.
We can also create a custom mood board to inspire outfit choices and reflect your session’s overall vibe.

Do you travel for sessions or weddings?

Absolutely! We love to travel and are happy to discuss your plans.
Travel within 45 minutes of the Portland metro is included in all sessions. For anything beyond that, there’s a $100 travel fee.

What’s the difference between digital and film?
Digital provides crisp, immediate images with flexible editing.
Film offers a softer, organic look with subtle imperfections that feel genuine and timeless.
We love to blend both mediums to fully capture your story.
